PROMOTING AWARENESS VICTIM EMPOWERMENT
We are a nonprofit that advocates on behalf of survivors, creates national awareness campaigns, and helps survivors find the help they need through our Survivor Outreach Center. Shattering the Silence with PAVE is a movement to create a world free of sexual violence and build communities that support survivors. We aim to empower students, parents, and civic leaders to end sexual violence with prevention education, promoting respect for oneself and each other. Additionally, PAVE creates a safe space for survivors to thrive after trauma. PAVE was started at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001 by Angela Rose. Since then we have grown into an international nonprofit with college chapters across the country, internationally, and partnerships with more than 150 local nonprofits who work daily on problems of helping survivors of trauma. In June of 2020 PAVE began the process of creating the Survivor Outreach Center. The purpose of the SOC is to streamline the process for survivors to find the help they need, when they need it. The SOC has grown at breakneck speed, recruiting over 700 organizations across the country, with more than 1,500 expected to join by end of the year. Due to the extreme need and growth of this invaluable resource to survivors, we are looking for interns to help us continue the work of changing the way in which survivors find the necessary resources they need.
